“Akira... Akira… Akira!” The sound of my name being called snapped me out of my thoughts. It was my cousin, Suimoto Haruna calling me.
I hear her sigh.
“Are you thinking about Hayato again?” She asks me, concern lacing her voice.
“No.” I lie.
I hear her sigh again.
“You’re such a bad liar Akira.” She said while shaking her head.
“You just worry too much Haruna. I’m fine. Jeez! You’re like my mom!” I tease her.
She narrowed her eyes at me before giving up.
“Whatever. Let’s just eat.” She said, taking out some store-bought bread.
“You’re not eating with Hokuto?” I ask her.
“He’s practicing for something right now.” She answered.
I shake my head at my friend’s denseness.
Poor Hokuto.
My name is Kumiko Akira and I LOVE sports. Practically, live and breathe it. Why do I love it so much? I don’t really know either. I guess it’s in my blood, or maybe it’s my way of escaping the nightmares I have trouble facing, like: my breakup with Hayato.
Hayato was my sparring partner when I was learning taekwondo in my mother’s friend’s dojo. It was nothing but an innocent classmate/partner relationship. Until… he confessed.
